Swim Team Parent Volunteers

In order to run a swim meet, we need many parent volunteers to help out. There are a variety of jobs available, most of which require no experience so don’t be intimidated. And what better way to cheer your child on?

As a member of the team, one parent will be required to work a minimum of two (2) swim meets plus the championship meet. Possible jobs include:

Announcer – announcing the events
Official – ensuring that all swimmers are using legal strokes, starts, turns, and finishes (this is the only job that requires training - see below)
Across-the-Board – calling the order in which swimmers finish/place
Scoring – calculating the score of the meet
Averaging – circling the middle time
Timer – using a stopwatch to time the races
Writer – writing down times
Runner – carrying timing slips to the scoring table
Ribbons – writing out ribbons for our younger swimmers
